Hein established Kruger International in April 2000, following a career in political & financial journalism for Nasionale Pers in Parliament and local government politics as, amongst others, deputy chairman of the Central Witwatersrand Regional Services Council Executive Committee, deputy chairman of the budgeting committee of the Johannesburg City Council, deputy chairman of the Johannesburg Town Planning Tribunal.

Hein has more than 32 years’ experience in financial markets as property developer and then as political analyst, equities, futures and bonds trader, money market, and equities portfolio manager with various firms on the JSE.

In Kruger International he specialized in asset allocation analysis and construction for high net worth private client balance sheets, managing equity and unit trust portfolios based on process driven strategy, opposing transaction generated commission driven financial planning. Hein is a member of the Investment Analysts Society of Southern Africa.

Mia earned her CFA designation in October 2013. Mia was a mentor in the CFA Institutes Global University Challenge for postgraduates in the comprehensive analysis of a listed company for 3 consecutive years. Mia has more than 15 years’ experience in financial markets, equity research and portfolio management, fund management and as member of the Investment Committee at Kruger International.

Mia is a member of the CFA Institute and the Investment Analysts Society of Southern Africa. Mia joined Kruger International in January 2007.

CHARL FRANCOIS BESTER, CFP®

Charl has 23 years’ experience in financial markets. Charl has previously worked at the FTSE in London. He has experience as forex trader, funds dealer, equity portfolio manager and wealth manager at Kruger International.

Charl is a member of the Investment Analysts Society of Southern Africa and the Financial Planning Institute.

Charl joined Kruger International in September 2001.

DR LANCE VOGEL

Dr Lance Vogel is the Chief Investment Officer of the Analytics Group. Lance was head of the Investec Analytics business for 3 years, responsible for the management of the funds, the asset allocation and the manager selection. Prior to that, he was with Peregrine Structuring, SBC Warburg and JD Anderson. He has a wealth of experience in derivatives research, product development and portfolio construction. Lance was rated by Financial Mail and Finance Week as one of the top three derivatives analysts for three years running. Before a career change took him into the world of finance, he was Chief Scientist at the Atomic Energy Corporation. Lance has more than 27 years’ experience in financial markets.

BERNARD VAN WYK, CFA®

Bernard spent more than 20 years as an institutional investment consultant at various consulting teams (Absa, Old Mutual and SEI).  He advised large corporations and state-owned enterprises on asset allocation policies and fund selection for their respective retirement funds.

Prior to joining Analytics, he spent four years at Multi-Family Office where, as a director of investments, he was responsible for investment strategy and research for their South African ultra high net worth client base.  Bernard is a member of the CFA institute and the Investment Analysts Society of South Africa.

JOHN ECKSTEIN

Managing Director of Analytics Consulting
BComm, LLB, LLM Tax law (RAU)

John is responsible for the product development, legal and compliance at Analytics. He spent seven years with Investec, mainly in Asset Management as director of Investec Fund Managers and Investec Investment Management Services where he was responsible for product development, legal and compliance. John also worked for Investec Treasury where he developed local and foreign investment structures. Prior to this he was in legal practice with Jacobs Robbertse Inc.
